Desktop assistant

Bring Copilot to any desktop app with a hotkey and explicit, revocable grants

Planned · Year 3 (W4)Sold as: IncludedC-166

The desktop assistant brings Copilot to any application. A hotkey captures user-approved context, and the user can ask or trigger One3 Actions without switching apps.

Copilot outside the browser

Planned for Wave 4, the desktop assistant is a signed client for Windows and macOS with auto-update and sign-in through One3 Identity. It brings Copilot to whatever application the user is working in.

Capture only what you choose

A hotkey opens the assistant. Selected text or a screenshot is captured only on an explicit user action. Local file grants let the user pick specific files or folders; grants are revocable and there is no background scanning. Before anything is uploaded, a redaction preview highlights personal data.

Same rules as everywhere

Asking and acting go through Copilot's tools, with the same entitlement, permission, approval and audit rules as the web app.

Admin control

Admins set allowed capture types, turn file grants on or off and apply data-classification restrictions. MDM deployment packages and managed configuration are planned with the Device Management capability. An offline queue for drafts, with no Actions while offline, is planned for Wave 5.

How it fits

The desktop assistant is another surface for Copilot, not a separate AI. It uses the same Model Hub routing, the same data-classification rules and the same Approvals Inbox. A task created from the desktop looks exactly like one created in the web app, with the same audit trail and channel recorded. Classification restrictions can stop certain data classes from being captured at all, and every capture is logged. This keeps one set of rules across every place a person works.
