Strategy Studio
Form strategy, test it with research and simulation, and hand it to execution
Strategy Studio is the planned workspace where leadership sets mission, choices, pillars, bets and assumptions, tests options with research, simulation and red-teaming, and hands approved strategy to Goals and OKRs.
Where strategy is formed
Strategy Studio, planned for W4, is the workspace for the yearly and quarterly work of leadership. It keeps strategy as structured, versioned objects instead of a slide deck that drifts away from execution.
Strategy as objects
Mission and values are versioned statements with approval and effective dates. Each strategy has a horizon of 1, 3, 5 or 10 years, where-to-play and how-to-win choices, explicit non-goals, a status and a review cadence. Pillars have causal links to objectives and KPIs, shown on a visual strategy map with a list alternative. A strategy roadmap lays pillars out as lanes over quarters, halves and years, and publishing freezes a numbered version.
Bets and assumptions
A bet has a hypothesis, a stake in money and capacity, stage-gates, kill criteria, an owner and linked assumptions. The assumption register, shared with Goals, records confidence, evidence, a test plan, an expiry and a status. When an assumption is invalidated, the linked bets and initiatives are notified. Gate dates and kill-criteria checks automatically raise Decision Requests with evidence.
Testing options
Research briefs on markets and competitors come from the Research module with citations, and unsupported claims are marked. Scenario planning captures driving forces, critical uncertainties, scenario narratives and signpost indicators that are monitored as signals. Strategic options are scored on expected value, downside, fit and value of information, and a critic red-team review is mandatory. Where Forecast & Simulation is subscribed, options get P10/P50/P90 ranges with the assumption register attached.
Frameworks and communication
Generic templates cover SWOT, PESTLE, three horizons, a value-proposition-style grid and a competitor grid, and their outputs link to strategy objects. A Hoshin Kanri X-matrix with catchball rounds shares objects with OKR & Scorecards. Approved pillars and bets generate draft company objectives and goals for approval, so strategy flows into execution. The strategy narrative can be published to employees with version, read receipts and Q&A. Quarterly and annual strategy reviews get an automatic pack of pillar performance, bet status, assumption changes and decisions. Zero-based budgeting and long-run calibration of strategic bets are planned for W5.
