Brand & DAM
Brand kits and a rights-aware asset library every creative module draws from
Brand & DAM holds each brand's identity and every creative asset with its rights, versions, usage and provenance. All modules generate on-brand output from it, and nothing is used outside its rights.
What it does
Brand & DAM has two jobs. First, it holds each brand's Brand Kit: logo variants with usage notes, palettes with colour roles, fonts with licence fields, and a voice guide and claims policy covering tone, do and don't examples, glossary, banned terms, required disclaimers and regulated-claim categories. A tenant, workspace or agency client sub-account can have several brand kits. Each kit is versioned with one published version at a time, and every generator pins the version it used on its output.
Second, it is the asset library. You upload images, video, audio, documents and fonts into folders and collections. Each upload is deduplicated by checksum, scanned for malware and given thumbnails and previews. AI suggests tags, dominant colours, OCR text, detected language and alt-text drafts, and they stay suggested until a person confirms them. Search covers keywords, filters by type, tag, brand, rights status, date and creator, and semantic search.
Rights on every asset
Every asset carries rights records: source (owned, commissioned, licensed stock, generated or user-generated), licensor, licence reference, territory, channels, start and expiry, attribution text, model and property release references, and the generation model's terms. Channel and territory rights are checked when content that embeds the asset is submitted for approval. An asset that shows an identifiable real person needs a release reference, or a Rights Registry consent grant for a synthetic likeness. Without one, it is restricted.
Usage tracking shows every variant, design, video, campaign, ad and post where an asset is live. From W3, rights expiry automation alerts before a licence ends, marks the asset expired and creates withdrawal tasks for the apps where it is still in use.
How it fits
Generator outputs from Design Studio, Video Factory, Audio & Voice and Avatar Studio are saved here with source generated, model and provider ids and a provenance reference. A visual brand check covers palette conformity, logo integrity, approved fonts and text contrast. Share links expire by default and portal downloads are logged.
Waves
Basics are planned for W2: brand kits, the asset library, tagging, search, rights fields and visual checks. GA is planned for W3 with asset states, a brand portal, bulk metadata editing, migration adapters, renditions, custom metadata schemas, retention and legal hold, a font licence gate, brand kits exported as design tokens, product guidelines for generation, and the Brand Guardian agent.

Multiple versioned kits per tenant, workspace or client sub-account with logo variants, palette roles and fonts with licence fields.
Voice guide and claims policy
Tone attributes, do and don't examples, glossary, banned terms, required disclaimers and regulated-claim categories used by every content check.
Asset library
Upload images, video, audio, documents and fonts into folders and collections with checksum dedupe, malware scan, thumbnails and previews.
AI tagging and descriptions
Suggested object and scene tags, dominant colours, OCR text, detected language and alt-text drafts, confirmed by a person.
Search
Keyword, filters by type, tag, brand, rights status, date and creator, plus multilingual semantic search.
Asset rights
Source, licensor, licence reference, territory, channels, start and expiry, attribution, release references and generation model terms.
Asset versions and usage tracking
Version history with restore, and a list of every variant, design, video, campaign, ad and post using the asset.
Visual brand check
Palette conformity, approved logo present and unaltered, approved fonts and minimum text contrast.
Provenance and AI label display
Shows the C2PA manifest summary, the AI-generated flag and origin: synthetic, consented person, licensed or captured.
Share links
Internal and portal shares with expiry and download permission; downloads are logged.
Rights expiry automation
Alerts before expiry; on expiry the asset is marked expired and withdrawal tasks go to owning apps (W3).
Brand portal and guidelines page
Agency clients and partners browse approved assets and a brand book generated from the kit (W3).
Renditions, retention and legal hold
On-demand resize, crop and format conversion with signed CDN URLs; retention per collection; legal hold blocks deletion (W3).
Font licence gate and design tokens
Blocks export when a font licence does not cover the channel; exports a brand kit version as design tokens and CSS custom properties (W3).
Workflow
Asset intake to use
- 1
Upload, import or save generator output
- 2
File is checksummed, scanned and classified; infected or disallowed files are quarantined
- 3
AI tagging, OCR, alt-text drafts and embeddings are created
- 4
Missing rights metadata creates a task for the uploader or brand manager
- 5
If a real person is shown, a release or consent reference is required or the asset is restricted
- 6
Brand manager approves where policy requires, and the asset becomes selectable in generators
- 7
Usage links are recorded; on rights expiry, withdrawal tasks are created for live usages
Workflow
Brand kit versioning
- 1
Create a draft version of the brand kit
- 2
Publish it; the previous version is superseded
- 3
Generators pin the published version on every output
- 4
Content checks re-run when the voice guide version changes
AI
AI skills and Digital Employees
Voice guide extraction
Reads uploaded brand documents and drafts tone attributes, examples and banned terms for human approval.
Asset tagging and alt text
Suggests tags, colours, OCR text and alt text that avoids sensitive inferences.
Semantic asset search
Finds assets by meaning across languages.
Person-depicted and lookalike detection
Flags uploads that show people or resemble public figures so release or consent requirements apply.
Brand Guardian audits
Scans for missing rights, expired licences and off-brand live assets and opens tasks (W3).
Digital Employees that use this module
- AI Brand Guardian
- AI Graphic Designer
- Social Content Scheduler
They act through the same governed Actions as people; risky steps wait for approval.
Frequently asked questions
Can an asset be used after its licence expires?
Expired, restricted and withdrawn assets cannot be picked in generators. Overriding requires Brand Manager permission and a reason, and the override is audited. From W3 expiry also creates withdrawal tasks where the asset is live.
Do AI tags decide rights?
No. AI tags help search, but they remain suggestions until confirmed, and rights decisions never rely on suggested tags.
Can agencies keep client brands separate?
Yes. Each client sub-account has its own brand kits and assets. Sharing an asset across sub-accounts needs an explicit share by a partner role.
Can we migrate from another DAM?
Migration adapters for Drive, SharePoint and Dropbox folders, Canva exports and enterprise DAM APIs are planned for W3, subject to each vendor's API access.
