Spatial Work Instructions (AR)

Capture an expert's repair once and guide every technician step by step

Planned · Years 6–10 (W6)Sold as: Add-onC-161

Spatial Work Instructions is planned to turn expert capture into step-by-step procedures anchored to equipment, run hands-free on phones and later smart glasses, with remote assist one tap away. It is a later-wave (W6) module.

What it does

When only two senior technicians know how to service a machine, that knowledge walks out of the door. This module captures how experts do skilled physical work and turns it into guidance any trained technician can follow.

From expert capture to procedure

An expert records a real job with video and voice, with consent. AI drafts ordered steps with timestamps, tools, parts and safety warnings, citing the capture timeline. The expert edits every step. Procedures carry text, images, short video, checks (measurement, photo, confirmation), tools and parts from the product catalogue, safety warnings and estimated time. Hazardous tasks need a safety reviewer in addition to the subject-matter expert, and every run records the procedure version used.

Guided execution, anchored to equipment

Technicians run procedures step by step on mobile with voice navigation ('next', 'repeat'), evidence per step and timers, offline through Edge Sync. Steps are anchored to equipment with phone AR (ARKit or ARCore) or QR markers. Procedures link to assets and asset classes, Field Service job types, Manufacturing routings and Frontline tasks, so the right procedure opens with the job.

Remote assist

When a technician is stuck, a remote expert joins on live video with two-way audio, annotations, freeze-frame and a pointer, with a low-bandwidth mode. Recording happens only with participant consent. If no in-house expert is free, the session can escalate to a vetted external expert through Human Expert Cloud.

Learning from every run

Execution analytics show step durations, skipped or repeated steps and errors, and correlate them with first-time fix and rework. Changing a procedure produces an impact list of assets, jobs and trained workers and asks for re-acknowledgement. Approved procedures publish to Knowledge for cited Copilot answers, and training mode scores practice runs and writes verified skills to Credentials.

Frequently asked questions

When is AR planned?

Spatial Work Instructions is a W6 module (Years 6–10). It is not part of the early waves.

Do we need smart glasses?

No. Procedures run on phones and tablets with phone AR or QR markers. Smart glasses support is planned at GA, with the device list to be verified.

Is AI allowed to publish procedures?

No. AI drafts; the expert edits every step and humans approve, with a safety reviewer for hazardous tasks.

Are remote assist sessions recorded?

Only with participant consent.
