POS

Fast, GST-correct billing that keeps working offline, for retail and restaurants

Planned · Year 3 (W4)Sold as: Core / StandaloneC-84

POS runs in-store and in-restaurant selling on Android tablets, phones and desktop browsers, with split tenders including UPI, returns, shifts and cash control. It is designed to keep working offline and sync safely, with retail and restaurant modes in one product.

What it does

POS handles fast billing, correct GST receipts, split tenders, returns and exchanges, and shift and cash control. Outlets link to an Inventory location and a legal entity and GSTIN. Registers pair to one device at a time with their own receipt number series, printer profile, cash drawer and offline policy, and can be remotely wiped through Device Management. Operators sign in with a PIN, and built-in roles set limits on manual discount, price override, refund without receipt, voids, cash pay-outs and no-sale drawer opens.

Selling at the counter

Items are entered by scan, search or a favourites grid on the cached catalogue, with variant, batch, expiry and serial or IMEI capture. Prices and tax splits come from the outlet price list and cached Tax Engine rules. Promotions apply automatically; manual discounts above the operator's limit need supervisor approval by PIN or remotely. Tenders include cash with rounding rules, UPI dynamic QR, card terminals, gift cards, store credit and B2B credit sales. Completing a sale creates the Order, Sale and Receipt, consumes stock and emits loyalty events in one idempotent Action. A B2B tax invoice with IRN can be issued at the register where the tenant is in scope.

Cash control

Shifts open with a float counted by denomination. Pay-ins, pay-outs, safe drops and petty expenses are recorded with reasons. Blind close hides expected totals, computes variance and requires reasons and supervisor sign-off. X and Z reports and a day close per outlet confirm all shifts closed and offline queues synced. Cash refunds are R4 with a supervisor PIN.

Offline by design

Each register holds its outlet catalogue, prices, promotions, tax rules, a customer subset, hashed operator PINs and a pre-allocated receipt number block. Every Action is queued with an idempotency key and device sequence, then replayed in order. Conflict rules are declared per object type and non-trivial resolutions go to a review queue. Offline limits cap duration, refund value, gift card redemption and credit sales. Whether per-register receipt series are acceptable is to be verified with a chartered accountant.

Restaurant mode and omnichannel

Restaurant mode adds menus and modifiers, floor plans, KOT routing to stations, kitchen display, a captain app, bill splits, QR table ordering, aggregator orders and recipe-based consumption. Outlets also run BOPIS pickups, ship-from-store tasks, endless aisle and returns of online orders. Planned for W4 (Year 3); restaurant mode at GA.

AI

AI skills and Digital Employees

Upsell prompts

Precomputed basket suggestions shown to the cashier, never auto-added; no model runs on the sale path.

Shrink and anomaly detection

Flags patterns for restricted human review; never an automatic consequence for staff.

Store manager copilot

Questions such as today's voids by cashier, answered with report citations.

Shift variance hints

Explains likely causes from recent pay-outs, unverified tenders and voids, with numbers taken from source.

Menu import

Menu photos or PDFs turned into item, section and modifier drafts; prices confirmed by a person.

Day close summary

Plain-language summary of sales, taxes, tenders, returns, variances and unsynced registers.

Digital Employees that use this module

They act through the same governed Actions as people; risky steps wait for approval.

Frequently asked questions

Which devices will POS run on?

Android tablets and phones, and desktop browsers as a PWA, with the same Actions. A certified device list is planned and still to be verified.

Can I take UPI offline?

Dynamic QR needs connectivity. Offline, a static outlet QR can be used with cashier confirmation, marked as an unverified tender and matched to partner settlement after sync, subject to partner support and policy.

Does an AI agent ever ring up sales?

No. Register Actions are never granted to agent identities. Agents work on back-office tasks such as replenishment proposals and store checklists.

Is restaurant mode a separate product?

No. It is part of POS, planned for W4 GA, so retail and restaurant outlets run on the same product and order book.
